The Senior Manager, Process Improvement is a Corporate based role, reporting directly to the VP Operations & Control in Hong Kong. The PI team reports in to the President, Global Strategic Store Operations. They play a key role in leading the projects undertaken, which are targeted to create an agreed efficiency gain and return savings to the organization. Success will be achieved through the Senior Manager’s ability to cultivate a broad network throughout the organization for assistance with the projects undertaken.

The Senior Manager, Process Improvement must be able to adapt to new subjects, concepts and projects and speak intelligently with subject matter and industry experts. The Senior Manager, Process Improvement will be expected to proactively and independently develop strategies and detailed plans for the timely completion of assigned projects. They will be expected to prepare presentations for Senior Management and Project Team project reviews, and may be responsible for delivering those presentations.

The Senior Manager, Process Improvement will also actively participate in developing annual departmental goals, selecting and prioritizing projects in support of company strategic objectives and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
• Develop a strong network of contacts across the organization to draw on for relevant research, collaboration and participation input, testing, execution and support of projects undertaken.
• Prepare detailed project plans for targeted savings or productivity improvements, including timelines, costs, team members identified for project participation for projects assigned or approved by President, Global Strategic Store Operations.
• Manage the execution of approved project plans to deliver desired outcomes within planned and approved parameters.
• Ensure a robust process is in place to support implementation of approved project outcomes including communication to all relevant parties, education of end users and/or those directly impacted by project outcomes, rollout schedules and post-implementation support as/where necessary.
• Keep the VP Operations & Control regularly updated on progress of all projects or initiatives undertaken. Highlight issues, concerns or successes that impact project progress or outcomes.
• In collaboration with the VP Operations & Control and the President, Global Strategic Store Operations, respond to changing business conditions or needs, in order to deliver appropriate support and outcomes in projects or initiatives undertaken.
• In partnership with the VP Operations & Control, ensure the senior management team is effectively updated on key projects. Prepare reports and presentations as/when required.
• Present project overviews and updates to members of the senior management team and location management teams as/when requested.
• Maintain keen awareness of relevant technology and innovation related releases, updates and key industry related activities.
• Identify and develop proposals for both existing and potential productivity or efficiency improvement opportunities for consideration and approval by, or in collaboration with, the President, Global Strategic Store Operations.

Team & Service Management
• Effectively communicate company overall objectives and how the department’s goals and strategies support achievement of those objectives. Ensure team members set goals and objectives which remain focused on overall business strategies. Review progress on a regular basis.
• Create and promote a positive work and industrial relations environment in line with DFS values, employee related policies and practices and local environment considerations. Responsible for staff retention, staff development and job satisfaction levels. Provide effective team leadership through open communication, training, coaching and active encouragement of direct reports and the team to meet or exceed location sales and profitability targets, while role modeling desired behaviors.
• Ensure a development plan is in place and actively reviewed for team members.
• In collaboration with your VP Operations & Control and Human Resources team identify, implement, and monitor outcomes from individual and team development programs delivered. Provide feedback on training effectiveness to relevant training delivery manager. Ensure participating staff have pre and post training discussions, with action plans made where appropriate, to actively reinforce practical application of their learning.
• Ensure that the workplace is safe, with the premises and behaviors of employees not imposing risks to the health and safety of any person. Ensure systems or procedures are in place for risks to be identified and reported by any staff member, appropriately and promptly assessed, and to be actively addressed noting compliance with any relevant local legislation.

External Networking
• Participate in corporate charity initiatives, local community and/or government activities to demonstrate DFS’ commitment to the local community in both business and social senses.

Key Requirements:
• University or College Degree in Business, Economics, Project Management or equivalent is preferred.
• 5+ years, ideally including Project Management experience.
• Proficiency in MS Microsoft computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email skills required.
• Process management skills. An ability to define processes necessary to get things done, knows how to organize people and activities, and can identify opportunities for synergy and integration.
• Organizational agility to get things done both through formal channels and informal networks. An ability to orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.
• Multidimensional leadership ability. Able to lead a team in both remote and direct contact situations.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills. Able to effectively operate in a culturally diverse environment and across a variety of position levels with astuteness and sensitivity.
• Must have high degree of integrity and confidentiality with a keen sense of business acumen.
