Job Description

Under the supervision of the Human Resource Manager the HR Specialist will be responsible for recruitment and employment, recruitment strategy, hiring processes, Learning and Development coordination and assisting with legal compliance for location. Responsibilities include applicant-tracking system updating and tracking for location; conducts and attends job fairs; developing recruitment outreach programs; and coordinating the job requisition process with hiring managers. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with processing of new hires including background checks and airport badges. Will work hand in hand with Learning and Development to schedule on site DFS trainings (Customer Service and Leadership Development trainings) for line employees and management staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with designing and implementing overall recruiting strategy in conjunction with HR Manager
• Develop and update job descriptions and job specifications
• Prepare recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate job board/newspapers/colleges etc. Source and recruit candidates by using databases, social media etc.
• Screen candidates resumes and job applications
• Conduct interviews using various reliable recruiting and selection tools/methods to filter candidates within scheduled time
• Assess applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes (via SHL tool)
• Assist with onboarding new employees to become fully integrated in DFS Culture
• Monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices
• Provide analytical and well documented recruiting reports to DFS Corporate, Division and location management
• Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process
• Promotes company’s reputation as “best place to work”
• Assist Learning and Development Manager to coordinate on site development training for hourly and exempt staff.
• Track and monitor training attendance and Learning and Development calendar for location
• Assists the location HR Manager and location HR Specialist with Airport Badges and U.S. Customs Seals Programs in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.
• Supports and backs-up the Human Resource team in general duties, as needed.
• Must follow all legal compliance and maintain confidential information
• Assists with coordination and the successful execution of employee events including summer picnic, long term service awards, holiday party, etc.
• Will assist in supporting and demonstrating humanitarian DFS belief through engagement activities at location.

Key Requirements:
Educational Requirements BS in Human Resources Management, or relevant Business Experience Work Experience
• Proven work experience as a Recruiter (either an in-house recruiter or a staffing agency recruiter)
• Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, stress etc.)
• Hands on experience with various selection processes (phone interviewing, reference check etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong decision-making skills
• Retail store level experience a plus Licenses/Certifications required Critical knowledge & skills including tools, software applications, language, etc.
• Familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Management Systems (CMS)
• Hands-on experience with recruiting software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) or Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) Other Qualifications / Core Competencies •Strong verbal and written English communication skills, bilingual a plus. •Ability to work in fast-paced, ever-changing environment. •Strong organizational skills and ability to flex and prioritize workload. •Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues. •Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications. •Exceptional Customer Service Skills.
