Job Description

Under the direction of Merchandise Manager, provides the vision, leadership and creativity to strategically drive the HK and Macau division specific business, focusing on developing brands and products addressing to local business needs. This position will be responsible for implementing new brand/product development initiatives, managing assortments and stock flow and transition, vendor management and negotiation, planning promotion, developing pricing strategies, forecasting, ordering and allocating products, and delivering store level implementations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Delivers sales, gross margin and turnover goals for local department business.
• Works with the MM to ensure the plans on assortment, categories, brands, and promotion are delivered for sales and profit top up for local division.

Category and Assortment Strategy
• Develops and maintains category and brands strategies for local region.
• Continuously explore new potential categories and brands for local region.
• Formulates an assortment strategy that is consistent with overall regional strategy.
• Defines and leads the development and execution of the key business drivers (key brands, items and stores).
• Communicates and coordinates at division and store level for proper execution of the merchandise strategies.
• Evaluates performance ongoing and takes actions as appropriate.
• Works with the MM to determines pricing and promotion strategies.
• Monitors performance on newly developed products, determines further opportunities based on results.
• Interprets trends appropriate to Chinese and local consumers.
• Selects/deletes assortments as appropriate.
• Working with the MM, develops brand exclusives, promotional and sampling strategies.

Brands Management
• Identifies and develops emerging brands for the region.
• Develops brands’ promotional, sampling and staff incentive strategies
• Negotiates the best terms, costs and sales activation supports from brands

Open-To-Buy and Inventory Management
• Maintains local department OTB to manage forward buys in-line with department inventory targets.
• Monitors and forecasts inventory levels at division and location level.
• Determines order quantities and place orders with vendors
• Determines markdown strategy and communication/execution with stores.
• Manages orders delivery, stock allocation from warehouse and re-balance between stores.

Division and Stores Level Collaboration
• Work closely with key team members at division, store, and location level, to ensure effective communications and implementation of merchandising plans.
• Communicates closely with store AGM, PSMs to understand latest market trends, stores or customers’ needs, for translation into future strategies and plans.

People Development
• Encourages and supports the development of our talented people. Offers honest and constructive feedback to team members fostering individual development.
• Develops and maintains a formal plan for self-development and career advancement.

Key Requirements:
• Degree holder or equivalent, business school or related discipline is preferred
• Minimum 5 years merchandising experience
• Financial and analytical merchandising with a background in buying is preferred
• Proven experience in category and inventory management
• Solid retail experience is preferred
• Leadership experience on developing, managing and influencing people required
• Negotiation experience required
