Job Description

The Senior Analyst, Merchandise Finance Planning and Reporting supports efforts to drive Sales, Gross Margin, and Inventory performance by Category, Division and Location. He / She provides analysis and reporting support to the Merchandise Finance, Division and Category teams to facilitate managing the Open to Buy to ensure Gross Margin and Inventory strategies are on track to achieve financial targets. This includes partnering with Category and Division teams in both strategic planning and forecasting projects and tracking of actual business performance at multiple levels, with insights for improvement and recommendations on financial opportunities and risks. This position holds a key role in running detail reviews and analysis of product category and division performance against the Budget and Forecast. The role is also responsible for the financial alignment of Merchandise expenses, audit procedures, account balance reconciliation and other Merchandise expenses.

Key Responsibilities:
Gross Profit and Inventory management
• Provide analysis and insights to review, challenge, and validate Open To Buy Plan and Forecast by Division by Product. Partner with Category teams to ensure connectivity.
• Track category performance of Sales, Gross Margin, and Inventory by Division and Location against Budget and Forecast. Identify exceptions, opportunities, and risks.
• Partner with Product Category team to address exceptions, opportunities, and risks. Attention to drive profit by product by location.
• Establish independent projections for Sales, Gross Margin and Inventory. Ensure connectivity and alignment with Merchandise Finance, Category and Division teams for reporting to senior management.
• Develop, track and communicate Merchandise finance forecasts, budgets and actuals.
• Collaborate with Corporate FP&A, Global Finance and other departments to ensure alignment of sales, gross profit, inventory and other KPIs in budget, forecast and strategic plan. Reporting and Analysis
• Monthly and Weekly reports (Qualitative and Quantitative) and analysis on Sales, Gross Profit, and Inventory.
• Provide statistical and quantitative analysis as requested by DFS senior management. Division Partner Relations
• Monthly update to Division team on Division Sales and Gross Margin results and outlook. Provide insight and recommend action.
• Partner with Division in tracking results, ensure alignment on conclusion and expectation

Key Requirements:
