Job Description

We are looking for a highly creative and enthusiastic individual to join our in-house creative team, working collaboratively on a multitude of campaigns and initiatives for a global multi-brand travel retailer. The role of the Motion Designer is to support the creative and digital design team in delivering beautiful & innovative work through creating custom graphics & video content for broadcast and digital platforms that reflect the DFS brand positioning as “The Traveler’s Luxury Department Store”.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, visualize and design special effects, high-end animations and other visual content for online & offline digital and broad cast platforms
• Format and adapt videos and animations for omnichannel channels such as website (DFS.com), EDM, social media, owned & paid digital media, in-store digital screens, etc.
• Ability to effectively communicate and tell visual stories, while elevating the brand
• Ability to select, edit, or create audio to complement videos and animations
• Maintain and follow best practices for versioning control, naming convention and organization of graphic files and content library
• On-going approach to learning & development of technical skills and industry best practices
• Collaborate and liaise with various parties in order to bring the vision to life: designers, illustrators, copywriters, editors, external talent & agencies, etc.
• Instruct and lead divisional videographers & editors based upon corporate guidelines & mandates, for local adaptation
• Project manage and lead communications with external studios & agencies as an extension of our in-house creative resource
• Design other digital assets as necessary, to support our creative & digital teams

Key Requirements:

• Degree in Graphic Design, Animation, Film or a related field
• 5+ years of experience, and proven track-record in motion graphics, video editing, and animation for a studio, agency, or within the luxury industry (e.g Net-a-porter, Matches, Selfridges, Lane Crawford)
• High proficiency in After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop; Cinema 4D a plus
• Spoken Mandarin/Cantonese and written Simplified/Traditional Chinese a plus
• Enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, highly-creative & curious
• Strong aesthetic taste with an understanding of luxury
• Art direction skills, with an eye for photography
• Great sense of typography & information design
• Audio editing capabilities, an understanding of its process/workflow
• Experience in working with audio professionals
• Awareness of the latest trends in design, typography, motion graphics
• Detail-oriented and accurate
• Hands-on with a service mentality
• Result-oriented: Ability to prioritize and work quickly from concept creation to finished product
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Customer centric: Ability to evaluate customer feedback and adapt accordingly – “test & learn”
• Great verbal & written communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and work well within a global and culturally diverse team
