Job Description

The Manager, Learning and Development is a core position supporting the vision of Global Learning and Development (L&D). The position manages L&D activities associated with a mandate to strengthen and grow that organization’s L&D culture and talent pool in Paris, for la Samaritaine. The successful candidate will work to transfer a portfolio of L&D programs, consult on the design and development of new services and conduct an annual assessment of learning needs for their area of responsibility. They will manage annual assessments of learning needs for their multiple areas of responsibility and engage regularly with key stakeholders. The Manager, Learning and Development will work collaboratively with managers of Operation and Talent Acquisition Team, senior line and staff managers in various roles and is expected to routinely engage with senior stakeholders. He/she will also work with Global L&D colleagues as well as business partners and vendors to identify, create and deliver performance support tools, e-learning, blended training and classroom solutions. In all activities, the Manager, Learning and Development is responsible for insuring the alignment of their team’s work with business priorities, practices and policies, especially Customer experience and Services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify / Coordinate L&D needs within their business unit or functions through job analysis & learning needs assessments
• conducted assessment needs directly and regular consultation with business partners;
• Translate needs assessment into clear, well-written L&D strategy documents;
• Develop and/or supervise the development of well-written L&D strategy documents;
• Plan and deliver L&D programs across business units or functions;
• Promote a culture of collaborative learning and knowledge sharing
• Drive results through effective team and individual performance activities, clear goals and managed accountabilities;
• Measure the impact of all L&D programs and services in relationship to key business priorities.
• Contribute to the progressive development of the Global L&D strategy;
• Manage all key learning projects on time and on budget;
• Partner in the development, implementation and delivery of all DFS University training to insure optimal performance;
• Serve as the learning and development “champion” and thought leader“/senior L&D “champion” within their area of responsibility;
• Identify, share and apply best-in-class approaches aligned with the evolving business capabilities.
• Manage, plan, deliver and/or support POS/ ensure the effectiveness of POS, customer service, product knowledge and on-boarding training through in-class activities, on-floor observations (or after action reviews with supervised L&D team members);
• Serve as a certified master trainer and facilitator for signature programs and events;
• Identify performance gaps and coaching opportunities in consultation with store and divisional leadership;
• Ensure the smooth operation of the MT and internship programs as well as the development needs associated with their Individual development Plans (IDPs) and talent map;
• Work with TA team for performance management activities including the smooth planning and execution of talent mapping, goal setting and individual development planning. Conduct coaching and mentor training as needed.
• He/she will also serve as an active teacher and coach to others in the organization – promoting an enhanced understanding of the overall culture of learning and knowledge sharing.*
• Manage functionally training managers in the store.

Key Requirements:
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions 5/10 years, of Retail Experiences and in training management, preferably including program management, instructional design or training management with relevant L&D technical experience Fluent English communication skills, both oral and written; Computer proficiency, training in video development or animation tools for user generated content
• Demonstrated ability to get things done, through both formal and informal networks;
• Experience leading, motivating and managing team members to effectively deliver goals and objectives;
• Experience effectively communicating in a culturally diverse environment and across a variety of position levels with astuteness and sensitivity;
• Able to work under stringent deadlines and high pressure and be able to prioritize a heavy workload with multiple deadlines;
• Demonstrated expertise working with senior leaders at all levels;
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to work with complex issues and use logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions;
• Able to make sound decisions with relevant facts at hand.
