Job Description

The Director of Logistics is responsible to lead, plan, organize, staff, direct, and control the overall performance of the Distribution Center, Warehouses and related operations. The Director assists executive management in planning and setting performance objectives; and the achieving of those goals. The selection, professional development, and motivation of the Logistics employees are key responsibilities of this position.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensures the smooth, expedited, and accurate flow of goods in and out of the Division.
• Creates appropriate operating metrics to measure productivity levels of the operation.
• Strives to continually reduce cycle time and cost to minimal levels.
• Works to continually increase productivity and accuracy levels.
• Develops and recommends an annual operating budget to ensure that service levels and operational goals are met within cost and sales parameters.
• Establishes a system of controls to ensure that service levels and performance goals are met or exceeded within resource parameters.
• Works together with Merchandising, Planning, Distribution and other stakeholders to manage inventory and distribution services.
• Establishes and maintains effective levels of communication and relationships with both internal and external customers, and contacts. Meets or exceeds service commitments to internal and external customers.
• Works with Talent Management to hire, train, and develop employees. Applies sound management and behavioral techniques to supervise, counsel, and discipline subordinates.
• Holds regular meetings to keep employees informed and to organize activities.
• Procures equipment, facilities, and other resources to sustain a safe, secure and productive operation.
• Develops programs for maintaining established standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, and safety.
• Complies with federal, state, local laws and regulations; as well as corporate policies.
• Maintains and improves the systems and procedures for operating and managing services, physical facilities, human resources, equipment, and inventory.
• Keeps current on changes in technology, industry, and other economic forces which may affect the delivery or cost of services.
• Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

Key Requirements:
• College or University Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years as Director or General Manager in an automated warehouse operation preferred. 10+ year’s progressive management experience in logistics, distribution or related fields. Working experience with Customs, and other regulatory agencies; airport operations beneficial.
• Planning, staffing, budgeting, organizing, and controlling an effective organization.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and Visio or other flow charting software.
