Job Description

The role of the Finance Director is to develop and execute division financial, business and control strategy, leading to the achievement of operating income for the Division. This key Finance role will partner with the wholesale and retail business management teams in Hainan and provides financial and operational leadership with accurate forecasting, oversight, strategic advisory and internal control support. This will be accomplished through close partnership with Global Operations and Global Finance; building trust, ownership & accountability.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead Financial Planning & Strategy
• Work with MD Hainan to develop, manage and execute tactics in achieving financial strategies for the division
• Develop and improve division and store financial KPI tracking and monitoring in relation to our wholesale contract as well as the sell through to the distributor and its POS locations/e-commerce operation
• Oversee the preparation of the division’s Budget, Forecasting and Strategic Plan
• Coordinate the monthly financial close with the Global Store Finance and Corporate Reporting teams, monitor the variances to budgets/forecasts and to provide action plan to ensure division financial goals are achieved
• Participate in all contract bids and negotiations and seeks appropriate involvement of global procurement and legal department
• Maintain relationships with wholesale partners, local banks, landlords, joint venture partners, and other suppliers
• Assist the MD Hainan in exploring and analysing new business opportunities in Hainan
• Develop and expand on wholesale KPIs for our wholesale partners to predict business trends and provide financial insights to help the division make decisions at senior level Retail management and logistics support to wholesale partners
• Assist the Hainan retail management team in developing store SOPs for our distributors/wholesale partners to improve on their retail management practices and financial reporting
• Provide efficient support to our wholesale partners on importation matters
• Assess the level of financial support to be given to our wholesale partners in terms of visual merchandising and staffing etc. Wholesale margin monitoring and merchandising decisions
• Work closely with MD Hainan and develop the wholesale strategy for Hainan and future opportunities there, and involve in the negotiation of the annual wholesale contract (supply volume by location and margin setting etc)
• Monitor the wholesale margin for DFS (changes due to brand mix, sku mix, location mix) and to adjust the level of guaranteed margin to our wholesaler partners (if necessary)
• Implement inventory controls and find ways to improve inventory ordering and replenishment process with our wholesale partners, monitor their stock depletion and month end balances
• Analyse the wholesale partner’s POS performance vs target and feedback to DFS merchandising teams
• Keep track of key projects implementation and achievement of key milestones
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with our wholesale partners

Key Requirements:

• College or University Degree in Business or Finance required, MBA preferred
• Progressive financial & operating experience
• CPA Qualified
• Retail Industry, inventory management experience a plus
• Mandarin speaking
• Proficient with China Tax law
