Job Description

The Director of Merchandising Finance is responsible for the development and execution of the merchandise financial plan and forecast to support DFS strategic and financial objectives. He / She will work closely with the category Planning VPs managing the Open to Buy to ensure Gross Margin and Inventory strategies are on track achieving financial targets. This role also works closely with Finance VPs and Division Managing Directors in ensuring cross functional alignment on Merchandising financial objectives and KPIs. The Director of Merchandising Finance leads the process in driving promotional campaign effectiveness and maximizing funding support from business partners. He / She is also responsible for Gross Margin and Inventory analysis, and providing reports to DFS senior management. The position drives DFS profitability with focus on the planning, alignment, and execution of merchandise strategies that support DFS company goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial • Lead the development of Division Gross Profit and Worldwide Inventory Budget, Forecast, and 5 year Strategic Plan • Partner with category team VPs and Directors to deliver category Sales, Gross profit and Turnover performance to plan • Leads the development of tops-down division category Plan and Forecast that supports company’s financial objectives • Oversee the development of category financial Plan and Forecast, ensure alignment with company’s strategies and financial objectives • Identifies and evaluates Sales and Gross Profit opportunities at the department, division and location level • Partner with Vice President GMM, Vice President Planning, and Planning Directors to develop and manage financial plans • Collaborate with Corporate FP&A, Operation and Control, and Global Finance to ensure alignment of Sales, Gross Profit, and Inventory in company’s Budget, Forecast, and Strategic Plan Gross Profit and Inventory management • Leads the Open-To-Buy process, ensure alignment with Company’s Forecast • Partner with category team VPs and Directors to ensure category team achieves the KPIs in OTB Forecasts • Identifies and evaluates opportunities and risks. Partner with category team to maximize returns on investment and support long term business growth. • Leads to identify opportunities of Vendor Contributions, develop and manage process to track progress and results. Partner with category VPs and VP Consumer and Retail Marketing to drive total returns to DFS in the forms of Markup plus other sources of Vendor Supports • Oversee Pricing and Promotional activities. Develop and manage KPIs, Process, and System to track and evaluate effectiveness. Leads category and division teams to drive returns on investment Reporting and Analysis • Monthly and Weekly reports and presentation to DFS senior management and LVMH Board of Directors. Review and analyses the company’s monthly performance of Sales, Gross Profit, and Inventory • Leads statistical and quantitative analysis as requested by DFS senior management People Development • Identifies, recruits, and develops the team • Encourages and supports the development of our talented people. Offers honest and constructive feedback to direct reports and business partners fostering individual and group development. • Continuously stretches the Team to perform at higher level keeping each Team member focused on the business strategy, plan and opportunities. • Manages the overall performance of all team members developing and recognizing the top talent and addressing the performance of team members with developmental areas. • Drives and manages organizational change in the category and supports organizational initiatives at DFS. Division Partner Relations • Develops and maintains effective working partnership with divisions particularly Managing Directors and Operation Control VP/Directors, while ensuring divisions execute financial elements of the category strategy appropriately. • Ensures category team results, relationships and processes are aligned with DFS mission and values. • Ensures efficiency and effectiveness of merchandising work processes.

Key Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent • 10 years management experience in merchandising with three years at Director level or above • Financial and analytical background in buying or planning • Accounting / Financial Planning experience is an advantage • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills in English • An independent and holistic influencer with proven leadership in a multi-cultural work environment • An individual who is action oriented with strong business acumen who possesses some of the following skills: Building Effective Teams Conflict Management Dealing with Ambiguity Developing Direct Reports Managing Vision and Purpose Negotiation Skills Organizational Agility Strategic Agility
