Job Description

We are looking for a highly creative and enthusiastic individual to join our in-house creative team, working collaboratively on a multitude of campaigns and initiatives for a global multi-brand travel retailer. The role of the Design Manager is to work alongside the creative director as brand guardian – ideating, leading, creating, and reviewing all creative outputs (online & offline) to ensure that it is elevated, innovative, and on-brand, while reflecting the DFS positioning as “The Traveler’s Luxury Department Store”.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain DFS’s standard of creative excellence, while following our brand guidelines
• Developing concepts, brand identities, and key visual language for global & local campaigns
• Designing in-store print collaterals for retail activations, events, promotions & partnerships
• Designing in-store signage, way-finding systems & communications
• Create corporate and campaign visual guidelines and templates for divisional teams and external partners, while ensuring that our design team respects and follows also our style guide and brand objectives
• Ability to research new concepts and bring trends, influences, and best practices to DFS by translating them into outstanding creative, improving our visual performance
• Concept, lead, and execute both product & lifestyle photo shoots with agency partners – from pre-production, production and post-production, across print & video
• Oversee online & offline production (image optimization, retouching, color correction, proofs, printing, mockups, reviewing samples). Overseeing the implementation of creative concepts across various formats & sizes
• Team up collaboratively with various departments on projects (editorial team, visual merchandising, retail marketing, etc.)
• Team up with project managers to oversee creative from beginning to end, and on production specifics that have impact on design, while delivering projects on time with accuracy and staying within budget
• Serve as the design service center within DFS to deliver excellent creative in terms of quality and performance
• Creating internal & external presentations, strategic decks, and creative presentations
• Lead and further develop the design team (online and offline) and manage allocation of resources of designers effectively
• On-going approach to learning & development of technical skills and industry best practices

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from a university or the equivalent
• 4–6+ years of experience (including 2 years of management experience)
• Proven track-record working for a studio, advertising agency, or within the luxury industry
• Expertise in In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, etc.
• Experience working in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment with competing deadlines and priorities
• Pre-production, production, and post-production experience for product & lifestyle shoots (both print and video)
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Spoken Mandarin/Cantonese and written Simplified/Traditional Chinese a plus
• Enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, highly-creative & curious
• Strong aesthetic taste with an understanding of luxury
• Excellent art direction skills, with a meticulous eye for photography
• Great sense of typography & information design
• Detail-oriented and accurate
• Hands-on with a service mentality
• Result-oriented: Ability to prioritize and work quickly from concept creation to finished product
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Customer centric: Ability to evaluate customer feedback and adapt accordingly – “test & learn”
• Great verbal & written communication skills
