Job Description

The Business Control Manager (BCM) ensure that the category strategy, actions and results, are in line with the company financial objectives. He/She monitors all financials of the departments within the category and is accountable to identify gap against objectives. The BCM is responsible for identifying opportunities & risks, that will allow the category to maximize Sales, gross margin, and inventory productivity. He/She is accountable for the category forecasting, and communication to all stakeholders on current positions, and future expectations. To accomplish his/her mission, the BCM works closely with the Heads of the Category (SVP GMM Merchandising, VP of Planning), Planning Managers (PM), Merchandise Managers (MM). He/She updates frequently Merchandising Finance on the category progress and report any unexpected event. He/She liaises with Divisions to keep both organizations expectations aligned on financials and work together toward the same objectives. Finally, he/she works with the Logistics team to optimize goods flow through the supply chain, as well as related costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial
• Delivers category sales, gross margin and turnover performance to plan.
• Monitor & Control all financials across the category.
• Identifies and evaluates sales and gross margin opportunities within departments together with the PM/MM.
• Monitor overall inventory levels to plan and forecast.
• Communicate with key stakeholders on results, risks, and opportunities.

• Open-To-Buy
• Ensures accurate and timely completion of department OTB every month at the division and category level.
• Maintains Category OTB to manage forward buys in-line with category inventory targets.
• Provide monthly guidelines on expected Sales in future months, and inventory targets to Planning Managers.

• Inventory Management
• Monitors and forecasts inventory levels at the division and location level.
• Monitor & optimize Key items inventory across the Category: remain in-stock, with minimal inventory needed.
• Ensure the departments manage out slow movers & aged items, and that inventory stays current.
• Ensures all inventory targets are met, including turnover, inventory currency and style/SKU counts.

• Margin & Vendor Contribution Management
• Develop and implement an improved SOP for tracking rebates, VST and ensuring rebates are received.
• Develop with Merchant counterpart a cohesive view of total vendor contribution with impact to business, identify gaps to plan.
• Work with Merchants on incentive needs to reach IGM% Budget.

• Merchandise Strategy & Budget
• Provides input into the development of the category merchandise strategy.
• Translate Category Strategy into financial plan.
• Develops next seasons/year plans at the division and department level.
• Identify futures financials risk in next year plan, to allow reformulation of the strategy in advance.

• Division Partner Relations
• Develops and maintains effective working partnership with divisions particularly MD, OCD & GM.
• Share category forecast, and keep both organizations align on sales objectives, to define right level of inventory.
• Communicate on inventory level & quality of Key Items, to ensure divisions are focus on selling these products.
• Drives decision-making and problem solving with divisions related to financials & supply chain at category level.

• Merchandising Finance
• Develops and maintains a close working partnership with Merchandising Finance.
• Review weekly on category financial results for the current month compare to previously locked forecast.
• Review next months / year forecast together, to ensure alignment on risks & opportunities vs Budget.

• Supply Chain
• Ensures that product moves efficiently through the supply chain.
• Ensures Incoterms are optimized from both a Supply Chain / Margin negotiations standpoints.
• Optimize Processes related to Logistics with Supply Chain team.
• Monitors logistics and delivery costs for the Category.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years working experience
• Cross-functional experience preferred, across merchandising, planning, logistics, finance and analytics.
• Luxury market experience preferred.
• International business experience preferred.
