Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Associate is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping and facility maintenance in order to maximize customer experience and ensure comfort and safety for all. They execute company programs for maintaining standards of sanitation, maintenance, housekeeping, safety, and security of equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
• Perform typical maintenance tasks to support the facility
• General housekeeping of store premises includes cleaning service
• Assist Management in tracking and ordering housekeeping and maintenance supplies
• Provides service at pantry and / or rest room
• Escort and supervise the performance of service providers and outsource contractors adhering to location specific security requirements and ensuring all work meets DFS specifications including completion timeframes
• Provide manpower for projects that require heavy lifting or movement
• Perform minor repairs, dry wall, painting, and general cleaning
• Assist with fixture moves
• Plumbing repairs - broken or leaking piping, fixtures, etc.
• Clear plugged drains
• Repair and install doors, cabinets, shelves, locks
• Repair walls, floors, ceilings
• Paint interior and exterior of buildings, and parking lots
• Maintain flood barriers
• Daily light bulb maintenance
• Maintains equipment (carts, hand trucks, wheel chairs)
• Office furniture moves, fixture moves and deliveries
• Remove recycling materials
• Oversee Hazardous Material (Hazmat) waste disposal (lights, liquids, etc.)
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
• Able to perform but not limited to the following: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, assist the facilities electrician, painting and janitorial
• Carry out repair work, renovation work, special event preparation
• Assist on projects where qualified to do so
• Perform other duties as requested in a diligent and conscientious manner Occupational Health & Safety
• Comply with DFS’ Occupational Health & Safety Policy and procedures
• Take reasonable care to act and behave in a manner that promotes care and diligence to oneself and others in the workplace
• Comply with reasonable instructions from any supervisor or authorised representative of the company concerning health and safety matters
• Attend OHS training as required and actively participate in Emergency Response procedures
• Participate in identifying, assessing and controlling risks and hazards in the workplace
• Report any accident/injury/hazard in the workplace to manager or the site OHS Representative using the DFS’ systems and the logbook

Key Requirements:
*Secondary school or High School diploma or technical school degree •2 to 3 years in commercial facilities maintenance preferred •Must be familiar with and use all hand tools, power tools and materials handling equipment in performing duties
