Vice President, Merchandising Finance

Job Description

Reporting to the CFO with a strong dotted line to the President of Merchandising, the individual will provide key strategic finance support to senior leadership in DFS and act as a business partner to other members of the Merchandising Leadership team, including Category S/VPs and SVP of Planning & Supply Chain.  
The role will also be a key member of the CFO’s Global Finance Leadership Team, providing insights to Merchandising performance and partnering with Divisions, Marketing and Accounting teams.
Along with the President of Merchandising, this role is responsible for delivering key financial metrics of Sales, Gross Margin, Brand Profitability, Inventory Productivity, and Supply Chain efficiency.

Lead Financial Planning & Analysis for Merchandising
Lead Global Gross Margin and Inventory Reporting & Analysis, providing insights to the Merchandising Leadership team, Divisional teams, and Global DFS business

  • Partner with VP of Retail Operations Finance to drive a profit agenda that optimizes sales and margin % trade-offs through store initiatives
  • Identifies and evaluates Sales and Gross Profit opportunities at the department, division, and location level
  • Provide inventory management support to drive stock productivity
  • Partner with Supply Chain leadership team to implement transformation projects and drive cost efficiency

Budget/Forecast planning & execution

  • Create a modern budgeting and forecasting process, leverage financial KPIs, create financial guardrails that deliver global financial and strategic objectives, and transparency and communication across the divisions and global DFS functions
  • Support Global Corporate Finance team and the CFO with insightful storytelling regarding Category/Channel/Brand performance – business and financial – to be used for all external stakeholder management (Board of Directors, LVMH, etc.)

Revenue Management

  • Leverage brand profitability tool and contribute to brand negotiations by providing analytical support and recommendations 
  • Collaborate with Pricing and Promotion team on promotional activities and effectiveness

Cash Management

  • Support Corporate cash flow needs by pushing sales initiatives and management of inventory payables
  • Work closely with Corporate Finance team & Merchants on vendor payables for cash outflow projection

Talent Development

  • Embrace dynamic career culture by creating opportunities for secondments, short term assignments and transfers 
  • Support the Finance Management Trainee program to identify and development of future finance leaders
  • Plays an active role on the Global Finance Leadership Team to build dynamic career paths across finance functions, and between LVMH maisons where appropriate
  • Responsible for delivering a diverse employee population


  • Enhance analytics and reporting to ensure stakeholders in the organization can gain better insight of Merchandising financial performance and key drivers 
  • Identify cost saving opportunities for Merchandising overhead costs and ensure expenses are within budget targets

Key Requirements

  • College or University Degree in Business or Finance required, MBA a plus
  • 10-15 years of progressive financial & operating experience.  
  • The ideal candidate will have prior Retail experience in a significant financial / control position at a strategic level. 
  • This includes core competencies such as budgeting / operations analysis, business case analysis and strong planning skills.
