Tax Manager, Global Tax

What you'll be doing?

Job Summary:

Manage all tax aspects of DFS’ global footprint and ensure compliance as well as audit defense support with all federal, state, local and international tax requirements.  Act as internal business partner to identify and analyze tax issues for DFS retail divisions and effectively communicate compliance and tax mitigated solutions to management.  

 

  • Coordinate and assist with the review of the regional compliance filings (e.g. Asia Pacific, China, USA/MidPac, Europe/UAE).                                                       
  • Review DFS financial statement tax provision under IFRS.
  • Review relevant foreign affiliate tax provisions for inclusion in audited financial statements.
  • Review or prepare financial statement tax footnotes.
  • Review interim tax provisions for correctness and tax planning purposes.
  • Coordinate and assist with relevant tax provision analysis for group reporting and business stakeholders.
  • Manage tax audits of DFS companies.
  • Review or prepare responses to tax authority information requests.
  • Develop audit strategy.
  • Research domestic and international tax issues and propose tax efficient alternatives to management through clear and effective communication.
  • Work on tax projects, both independently and as a team member, dealing with a variety of domestic and international issues.
  • Review and monitor transfer pricing of DFS group companies; coordinate transfer pricing documentation files and work with external consultants as appropriate.
  • Develop planning ideas to optimise taxes through careful analysis of business structures and transactions

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in accountancy
  • Additional certification (CA or CPA or ACCA etc.) is required
  • At least 8 years tax experience (corporate, public accounting or combination of both).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills a must. Emphasis on ability to interpret and analyze relevant tax law and summarize findings in non-technical business language for management and internal clients.
  • Proficient in use of Excel, Data analytics. 
  • Experience with SAP general ledger software desirable.
  • Desire to work in a multi-national environment.
  • Self-starter who is able to produce quality results and meet deadlines.
