Job Description

The Senior Logistics Manager is responsible for the daily and long term performance of a Warehouse operations’ expeditious and accurate receipt, booking, processing, putaway and distribution of merchandise into the Distribution Center. The Senior Logistics Manager develops a high performance, results-oriented team of distribution associates dedicated to excellence.  Strict adherence to internal/external stock control policies and procedures is a critical objective. The Manager establishes strategic and tactical objectives with the Director of Logistics and is accountable for the delivery of those objectives.

 

 

Scope

Warehouse Operations: Provides warehouse and distribution services to own Stores and/or to other warehouses, or other locations in DFS as designed, or as needed.

 

Direct reports include Manager, Supervisors, and Associates.

Job Description

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the Warehouse operations to meet and or exceed productivity, service, speed, and financial goals as established by the Logistics Group and the Company. 
    • Develop a high performance, results-oriented team of distribution associates dedicated to excellence. 
    • Interview, select, and hire the most qualified candidates for open positions.  Train, monitor, provide feedback, coach, and evaluate employee performance on a timely basis.  Administer disciplinary action when necessary.  Set and maintain work schedules for employees based on the needs of the business.  Maintains a positive work environment.
    • Work with Temporary Service companies to procure needed temporary staffing, set performance standards, train, and ensure that each individual meets established productivity goals.
    • Maintain high level of individual and workgroup communications.  Conducts regular staff meetings to provide updated information on the Company and the workgroup, and to address issues.
  • Provide daily direction and supervision of warehouse personnel to ensure the safe, clean, secure, and efficient operation of the warehouse. Supervision includes but is not limited to the functions of receiving, processing, stocking, price change, inventory, quality control, order fulfillment, and expediting priority merchandise-processing. Fulfills all emergency and manual orders. 
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

Key Requirements

Educational Requirements:

College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience:

5+ years as Manager in an automated warehouse operation required.  Working experience in Distribution Centers servicing the retail industry is required.  Working experience with Customs, and other regulatory agencies; airport operations beneficial. Experience in luxury retail industry is preferred.
