Category Manager
Job Description
Do you have great commercial plans to optimize sales of our products? If yes, you are what we look for as the Category Manager.
You will be accountable for proposing, developing and maintaining localized efficiency, relevancy and products for Vietnam within the DFS Global Vision and Strategy. The Category Manager works in partnership with the Store Operations to drive sales and spending by implementing the conversion of aged inventory strategy, store renovations, purchase planning, promotion execution, tester follow up, building vendor relationships, delivering product knowledge, and ensuring effective communication within the division and with the Global Merchandising team.
Category and Assortment Strategy
- Develop and communicate sales strategy for a segment of a department business
- Formulate an assortment strategy that is consistent with overall business strategy
- Work with the Merchandise Manager to monitor the proper execution of the merchandise strategy at the division and location level
- Drive and execute the brands’ floor space planning and allocation for all key locations
- Assist the Merchandise Manager to determine seasonal transition and promotional strategies
- Monitor sales performance on newly developed products, determine further sales opportunities based on results
- Select/delete assortments as appropriate
- Deliver sales, gross margin and turnover goals for assigned business segment
Inventory and Sales Management
- Monitor sales trends and provide sales and stock forecasts to central Merchant and Planning teams
- Achieve sales and gross margin forecasts
- Monitor potential ageing issues, customs aged issues and provide strategies for clearance for agreement with central teams
- Ensure to have a healthy stock, follow up not only quantity but quality as well, focus on key Brands as well as key/best selling items
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent preferred
- Fluency in oral and written English
- 5+ years of retail or wholesale experience.
- Great interpersonal skills to negotiate with internal & external work partners
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written and be comfortable in making high level presentations
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment with astuteness and sensitivity
