About the DFS Graduate Development Program:

The DFS Graduate Development Program provides an unparalleled opportunity for young, emerging leaders an opportunity to fast track their careers in retail through a 12-month rotation program as management trainees.

The successful Management Trainee will develop their leadership skills through personalized, experiential training under the expert guidance of function managers, coaches & mentors throughout DFS.

The unique aspect of the DFS Graduate Development Program is the rotational nature where Management Trainees are given the opportunity to gain diverse exposure into Store Operations (6-months) based in Auckland, Merchandising (3-months) and Marketing (3-months) based in our Corporate head office in Hong Kong, developing them to be a versatile and agile leader.

Management Trainees are assigned with departmental responsibilities including special assignments and projects, with hands-on exposure to an extensive range of departments and categories. During these rotations, key skills are established and will anchor Management Trainees in their Retail career.

Management Trainees are groomed to assume leadership roles with global placement opportunities. Once you complete the Program, you will embark on your career at DFS T Galleria, depending on business needs, performances and individual aspiration.

This role is based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Key Requirements

A successful Management Trainee will have these key competencies:

  • Career ambitious in the Retail industry;
  • Able to learn on the fly;
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills;
  • Ability to build an effective team and motivate others;
  • Service excellence.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Must be a New Zealand citizenship holder, or hold a valid visa that allows you to work & live in New Zealand;
  • Fresh graduates (Bachelor's degree preferred);
  • Recent graduates with less than 3 years of work experience are welcome (Minimum Pass Average attained);
  • Fluent in English. Any other second language ability is advantageous but not essential;
  • Strong passion for Retail and building a retail sales management career;
  • Must be internationally mobile;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a special sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment;
  • Demonstrated strong leadership;
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and complexity;
  • Excels in learning, with ability to learn on the fly;
  • Polished presentation skills;
  • Professional in appearance, demeanour and language;
  • Flair, confidence, creativity and a passion for customer service;
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and public holidays;
