Manager, Logistics Project

Job Description

The Logistics Project Manager sits within the Merchandising and Supply Chain department, with special focus on logistics & supply chain processes and systems. The PM will be taking the lead on core logistics and supply chain projects, including new business ventures, systems implementations and enhancements, process re-engineering and change management, as well as acting as representative of Logistics & Regulatory department in cross-functional projects. Distribution network of DFS consists of multiple self-run DCs and 3PL operated DCs which support replenishment of DFS stores across four continents. The PM leading the projects within these fields will need to work in collaboration with the logistics, regulatory, operations teams, as well as IT, technology partners and 3rd party logistics providers to deliver solutions that fits the business requirements. The projects may range from several transportation or warehousing related projects such as implementation of warehouse management system, setting up control tower and visibility tools, productivity, and labor management, relocation/opening of warehousing facilities, process automation and efficiency improvement initiatives. The overarching objectives are bringing operational efficiency, visibility, and responsiveness to the Company.

Logistics/Supply Chain Project Management

  • Gather requirements from business partners for the project (direct and indirect stakeholders) and foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration on project planning
  • Plan, execute and deliver project activities according to timeline, budget and business requirements
  • Establish estimates, develop business case, and conduct cost/benefit analysis for new projects
  • Conduct regular market research for logistics solutions and innovations  
  • Support solution design alongside our IT & Transformation team
  • Document processes, maintain training materials and ensuring all stakeholders are updated
  • Own change management and act as catalyst to engage operational teams during execution of projects
  • Create capital expenditure requests and track project costs to ensure budget is met
  • Conduct RFP/RFQ exercises, participate in 3PL/4PL selection process and prepare recommendation decks to management
  • Work alongside with internal warehousing team or 3PLs to deliver an efficient warehousing & transport solution for new business setups


Current Logistics PM Projects

  • Replacement of legacy WMS system with Blue Yonder; WMS within self-run warehouses and business process re-engineering to achieve a global standard solution
  • Implementation of RFID solution in global warehouses and stores  
  • Core Logistics Projects
  1. Exploring warehouse automation, and conducting a global logistics footprint & infrastructure review to build the logistics of the future for DFS
  2. New business setups in several countries
  3. Migration of an existing distribution center to 3PL
  • Several transformation and continuous improvement projects to improve visibility, accuracy, and efficiency

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant academic area such as Engineering, Accounting etc. Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred.  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain, warehousing background is a plus.
  • Exposure to projects and change management. 
  • Background in IT can be considered if it is within Supply Chain.
  • Multi system knowledge (WMS, ERP and data repository)
  • Fluency in English 
  • Strong competencies in management of teams, in logistic flows, stock control, security, and safety.
  • Knowledge and experience with applying Quality Improvement Techniques. Lean  Six Sigma certification, PMP, APICS CSCP certification, and/or other professional certifications are a plus.
  • Proficient in MS computer applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) required
