Manager, Data & Analytics

What you'll be doing?

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Drive the full lifecycle of Data projects: from gathering business requirements and understanding the end-user needs, to establishing business value and implementing a fully automated solution.
  • Partner with product owners across domains, architects, technology partners and cross-functional teams to implement solutions that meet the needs of the enterprise.
  • Design robust and scalable solutions to meet the data needs whilst establishing standards, guidelines, and best practices for teams utilising the solution.
  • Play an active role in project coordination between internal and third party/vendors for smooth project delivery with a focus on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Analyse, tackle and resolve day-to-day operational incidents and be the central advisory to business users. 
  • Participate in cross functional teams to promote technology strategies, evaluate and test products, perform proof of concepts and pilot new technologies/methods. 
  • Agile - Scrum project management experience/ knowledge - Ability to prioritise, pushback and effectively manage a data product and sprint backlog. 
  • Investigate operational data (SLAs, customer satisfaction, delivery quality, team efficiency etc.) to identify actionable trends for continual improvements. Demonstrate technical expertise in the assigned domain. 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of professional Data Analytics, Data Warehouse or Business Intelligence experience focused on empirical / predictive analytics to devise actionable business insights. 
  • Extensive experience in building reliable and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from a variety of data sources, preferably in the retail industry.
  • Strong ability to exhibit sound business judgement, a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership, leading data-driven analyses and influencing results. 
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with geographically distributed teams
  • Proven ability to lead support functions for production systems with emphasis on service delivery, problem management and effective mitigation of technology obsolescence.
  • Expert-level SQL skills with deep expertise in implementation and performance optimisation of MPP databases (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery) hands-on experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMs) (e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL), and proficiency in NoSQL databases (e.g. Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch). 
  • Extensive experience in ETL pipeline development, using dbt for data transformation, Airflow for orchestration, and deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes. 
  • Skilled in implementing CI/CD pipelines using Github and Github Actions.
  • Proficient with Microstrategy, PowerBI, Tableau or any standard data visualisation/BI tools. 
  • Familiarity with distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Flink) asynchronous messaging systems (e.g., Apache Kafka), and the corresponding cloud services such as Azure Event Hub, Azure Functions and more. 
  • Knowledge of cloud services like Azure, Alicloud, GCP would be a huge added advantage 
  • E-commerce / Logistics / Fashion Retail background a bonus.
