Human Resources Manager

Job Description

Reports to Senior HR Manager Oceania. Works closely and takes direction from the General Manager – T Galleria Brisbane. Responsible for people management practices to enhance organisational effectiveness, and to actively support the achievement of business objectives and growth of DFS talent pool. Ensures the delivery of Human Resources policies, practices and activities to the store level to support and achieve store business objectives. Execute and manage the compensation and benefits strategies, HR Administration, Employee engagement and legislative compliance.

  • Fully knowledgeable in local laws and regulations and ensures total compliance in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Interprets and implements company policies and ensures consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Investigates employee complaints thoroughly and applies appropriate measures for resolution of problems.
  • Works closely with local legal counsel and Senior HR Manager in resolution of employee issues.
  • Establish strong partnership with business clients/internal customers to remain aligned with current business issues and opportunities, as related to compensation and benefits, employee engagement and human resources administration.
  • Advise and consult the business on Policy, Procedure and Guidelines, including ensuring that policies are adhered to.
  • Actively assist in the communication, alignment and implementation of talent related initiatives across the Division, in support of DFS business goals and strategic objectives.

Key Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or similar with Minimum 5 years’ experience in a HR generalist function with the ability to work autonomously in a standalone  role.

  • Proficiency in MS Microsoft computer applications and email required

  • Fluency in English – written and oral communication

  • Integrated HR/Payroll systems experience desirable
  • A strong working knowledge of Australian specific HR legislation essential.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Training coordination and facilitation skills highly regarded
  • Ability to work under high-pressure environment and within stringent deadlines.
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Able to work a flexible schedule
