Human Resources Manager - LAX
What you'll be doing?
Purpose and Objective of Position
The Human Resources Manager (HRM) serves as a strategic partner to LAX location leadership, aligning HR strategies with business objectives to drive performance, employee engagement, and operational effectiveness. The HRM provides expert guidance on workforce planning, organizational development, labor relations, talent management, and change initiatives while ensuring full compliance with employment laws and internal policies. This role balances both strategic advisory and hands-on HR operations within a union-represented environment
Ideal Candidate
- Collaborate closely with location leadership to understand business challenges and deliver proactive HR solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, providing insights on talent, performance, organizational structure, and workforce optimization.
- Lead organizational change initiatives and support cultural transformation efforts.
- Use data and analytics to identify trends, guide decisions, and measure HR impact
- Partner with business leaders to assess, plan, and develop workforce capabilities.
- Support talent review and succession planning processes.
- Promote development initiatives including leadership coaching, mentoring, and career pathing.
- Investigate and resolve employee relations issues with fairness and confidentiality.
- Serve as liaison between management and union representatives.
- Administer and interpret the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and ensure consistent application.
- Participate in grievance procedures, negotiations, and contract interpretation
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for LAX location, ensuring diverse and qualified talent pipelines.
- Partner with hiring managers on workforce planning and job requisitions.
- Oversee the onboarding process and new hire orientation to support early employee engagement.
- Partner with Total Rewards to manage local compensation practices, performance reviews, and incentive programs.
- Maintain HRIS/Kronos data integrity and ensure timely processing of personnel actions.
- Support payroll coordination and employee benefits inquiries.
- Support the implementation of training programs that support both compliance and professional development.
- Facilitate leadership training, employee development sessions, and compliance-related education.
- Coach managers on feedback, performance management, and team development.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Serve as subject matter expert in HR policies, safety standards, and labor compliance.
- Oversee airport-specific regulatory requirements, including badging and security protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum 4 years of HR management experience, preferably in a union-represented or retail environment.
- Experience as an HRBP or in a strategic HR advisory capacity strongly preferred.
Certifications
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Proven ability to influence and coach at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of labor relations and union contract administration.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain airport badge required.
Working Conditions / Environment
- Based at LAX Airport, occasional travel to other locations may be required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on operational need
This is an full-time, salary exempt position. The pay range is $105,000 - $115,000 annually. Actual rate will be determined based off candidate's skill sets, years of experience, and other job-related factors.
