Job Description

At DFS, we’re embarking on an exciting digital and technology transformation journey to reimagine the future of luxury travel retail and deliver amazing experiences for our customers, brands, and partners – a DFS 2.0 powered by data, digital and technology.

The Director of Transformation and Delivery Operations is a key position that will drive strategic planning, short and long-term alignment, budget planning, and will direct change management activities throughout the organisation. The role is essential to the successful delivery of enterprise-wide technology transformation, modernisation and innovation.

A key focus of the role is to ensure the strategy is reflected in our multi-year technology portfolio plan and budget, and the teams across the global technology organisation are operating to deliver it effectively. 

The role reports directly to the Global CIO and is a member of the global technology leadership team. The position can be based in either Hong Kong or Singapore.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Establish and setup the transformation and delivery office team
  • Lead a team consisting of Strategy & Planning, PMO, Budget/Finance Control, Change Management, Innovation and Delivery Transformation (AGILE coaching, Design Thinking) capabilities
  • Be the voice of the Global Technology Transformation – with a mission of accelerating the DFS “next-gen tech@DFS” transformation, delivering user-centric, globally scalable, and seamlessly integrated applications
  • Lead the business case for transformation, building on the initial work already completed to quantify the business impact and investment required to achieve the goals of the transformation program. Articulate strategic value of initiatives and incorporate into portfolio prioritization framework. Measure and track value delivery
  • Accountable for project managing new business activity integration (new store openings)
  • Manage conflicting priorities and inter-dependencies of the program and other organisational priorities, advising on the course of action as appropriate
  • Manage organisational risks and issues in respect of the transformation program
  • Build relationship and networks with senior leadership/stakeholders across the organisation, providing support, constructive challenge, and facilitating sessions where appropriate
  • Supervise all change management related to organizational transformation inclusive of all implementation and communication plans
  • Work closely with Technology POD Leads, Product Managers and business stakeholders in understanding the drivers behind the change and assessing the impact of the change to our business, customers and staff
  • Manage the delivery of change communications via the respective channels to the target audience and ensuring key messages delivered align with the Global Technology transformation strategy 
  • Review and identify continuous improvement opportunities within Global Technology, harnessing best practices, industry leading framework as well as leading innovative tools and technologies in making Global Technology a highly effective and quality-driven delivery team within DFS
  • Partner with HR on culture & engagement efforts, organizational evolution and redesign, and talent succession planning, ensuring efforts align to strategic direction and transformation.
  • Leads special projects as needed
  • Owns management and oversight of the PMO and defines and develops practices, governance/steering processes and metrics aligned to AGILE ways of working 

Key Requirements

  • 12+ years of increasingly responsible leadership positions, with large scale business process and system (SAP ERP) transformation experience
  • Strong critical thinking, with outstanding analytical, influencing, and interpersonal skills 
  • Outstanding stakeholder management experience at the most senior levels, superior influencing, and collaboration skills
  • Experienced across traditional project-based as well as AGILE product-based organisations/operating models
  • Business process re-design/engineering and/or reimagining user journeys utilising design thinking best practices
  • A humble leader who can listen and learn as much as they can articulate a vision and lead through to execution
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate global, matrix teams.
  • Strong technical background, leadership, and people management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple priorities at once and thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and inspire change in a large global organization.
  • Sound business acumen and strategic skills with an execution bent; ability to quickly grasp sophisticated business strategies and identify downstream implications.
