BTY & FWJA Category Manager

Purpose and Objective of Position

The Category Manager (CM) reports directly to the General Manager Vietnam. The CM is accountable for managing Beauty & FWJA categories in Vietnam division strategies. The CM is primarily responsible for proposing, developing, and maintaining localized efficiency, relevancy and products for the division. The CM works in partnership with the Store Operations to drive sales and spend at division level by implementing the conversion of aged inventory strategy, store renovations, purchase planning, promotion execution, tester follow up, building vendor relationships, delivering product knowledges, and ensuring the effective communication within the division, the Global Merchandising team, vendors, and others.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

INVENTORY & SALES MANAGEMENT / PURCHASE PLANNING:
- Monitor sales trends and provide sales and stock forecasts to central Merchant and Planning teams.
- Achieve sales and gross margin forecasts.
- Monitor potential ageing issues and provide strategies for clearance for agreement with central teams, GM and Operations team.
- Ensure appropriate communication and coordinate actions on any product related inventory levels and ensure appropriate coverage in maintained.
- Monthly OTB / forecasts discussion with SFO or HK Team to ensure have a good stock level, basically 3-months base inventory.
- Ensure to have a healthy stock, follow up not only quantity but quality as well, focus on key Brands as well as key/best-selling items.
- Monthly review / update & forecast by Location / Category & Brands in terms of SLS units & SLS values.

MONTHLY PROMOTION IMPLEMENTATION AS PER GLOBAL SCHEDULED PLANNING:
- Yearly / Monthly promotion planning with SFO / HK team.
- Monthly review and agree to sales target with Planners.
- Co-ordinate with Planners / Singapore Warehouse / Vendors to develop & implement regional events on time at each location in terms of promotional stocks / GWPs / Testers / Materials / Display…
- Discuss & agree to promotional mechanics with Vendor.
VENDOR MANAGEMENT:
- Monthly / weekly communication / conduct on business trend, actual SLS by specific Brands, newness update, visual changing, BA salary, incentive & others.
- Meeting & walk through / visit shops with Vendors.
- Coordinate with Vendor to conduct product and display training as required standard.

COORDINATION WITH PARTNERS / OPERATION TEAM / LOGISTIC TEAM AND OTHERS:
- Ensure smooth relations are maintained with the Operators and provide regular communication on business evolution and product strategies.
- Monthly meeting with Partners to review business. Work more closely with Partner’s Merchants to build a good relationship.
- Closely working with Operation team on matters: execution monthly promotion, update stocks on counter, tester order, and incentive for sales staffs, training for BAs & generic staffs, Vendor’s visit, Vendor’s renovation.
- Monthly defect list & execution physically. Yearly PCN / specific mark down. Destruction follows up. FIFO update & checking... with Operation, Inventory & Store Finance Team.

TEAM & SERVICE MANAGEMENT
- Effectively communicate overall company objectives and how the Category team is critical to driving the achievement of company vision, store sales targets and strategies for those objectives.
- Ensure the Category team has objectives which remain focused on delivering productivity and profitability targets. Reviewing performance on a regular basis.
- Provide effective team leadership through open communication, training, coaching and active encouragement of direct reports with a view to meet or exceed location sales and profitability targets, and role modeling desired behaviors.
- Lead, coach and train your team to ensure they are consistently growing in skills, confidence, and effectiveness in their roles. In addition to internal customer service levels this role effectiveness includes continual improvement and refinement of staff productivity, internal processes and communication effectiveness and product knowledge.
- Prepare and deliver performance appraisals providing relevant and specific feedback.
- Participate in recruitment and selection of your location team as required. In collaboration with Talent Management, apply recruitment techniques for quality talent selection and ensure adherence to DFS related policies and local legislation.

GENERAL DUTIES
- Complete internal reports and participate in various projects as/when required.
- Communicate with VP, General Manager, Talent Management, Visual Merchandising, Marketing and Global Merchant teams on relevant store issues.
- Actively participate in corporate charity initiatives, local community, and government activities to demonstrate DFS’ commitment to the local community in both business and social senses.
- Actively promote the DFS brand and a strong positive professional image at all times.
- Perform any other duties as requested in a diligent and conscientious manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Educational Requirements : Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandize Management, Business or equivalent preferred

Work Experience : 5+ years retail or wholesales store experiences

Critical knowledge & skills including tools, software applications, language, etc

✓ Must be able to have a flexible schedule.
✓ Able to work independently with minimal supervision and on weekends or outside of regular office hours, if required.

Working Conditions / Environment * 
• 8hrs a day and 40hrs a week
• The Employee shall be provided necessary tools/equipment for the job
• The employee may be required to travel in Vietnam and oversea.
