Associate Manager, Merchandising Business Strategy

Job Description

Do you have great commercial plans to optimize sales of our products? If yes, you are what we look for as the Senior Assistant Merchandise Manager. 

You will have full merchandising accountabilities for a segment of business, defined by either a brand or by division.  You will spearhead sales planning, pricing and merchandise assortment to support the overall category/department strategy. You will also partner closely with the Merchandise Manager for vendor management, cost negotiation and product development.


  • Manage communication between the merchandising team and store operations and business development for all initiatives, bids and renovations.
  • Help to manage the master project calendar, aligning priorities with senior management. Identify and track upcoming airport bid opportunities.
  • Perform financial due diligence of business plans and gain necessary management approvals.
  • Manage the post-approval stage of projects on a cross category basis to ensure that development timelines are met.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of macro and micro environment, global tourism dynamics, luxury and travel retail trends and advise on impact to the business.
  • Support the development and rollout of budget initiatives
  • Identify and analyze strategic business opportunities using rigorous quantitative analysis, being agile to lead at times and to assist at others on strategy development
  • Support internal stakeholders with intel and analysis where relevant

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from top-tier university; advanced degree a plus
  • 5+ years in a consulting, banking or research environment highly desired
  • Experienced in project management with strong strategic planning background is a plus 
  • Understanding of key commercial aspects of retail or Fashion (experience in fashion would be a plus)
  • Advanced Excel and Power Point skills a must
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (Fluent English is a must)
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and translate into actionable insights/recommendations; natural problem-solver
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into concrete action plans and recommendations
  • Positive, pro-active and flexible work style and can work under pressure
  • Strong communicator who is comfortable working with a range of internal stakeholders – senior management, store operations, marketing, merchandising, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, fosters strong relationships, ability to influence others
