Associate Manager, Merchandising, Watches & Jewelry
Job Description
We are seeking a high-caliber individual with strong planning skill to join as the Associate Merchandise Manager. You will partner with the Merchandise Manager to implement key product development initiatives, introduce new products/initiatives based on market trends, and manage assortments. You will negotiate with vendors for the highest quality products at the most favorable price and delivery terms, and ensure each category and brand meet their respective financial targets.
Category and Assortment Strategy
- Provide the vision, leadership and creativity to strategically drive your department business
- Work with the Merchandise Manager and vendors to introduce new products which reflect international /local markets’ preference
- Set key annual objectives for area of responsibility, e.g. gross margin and profitability, brand and assortment hurdle rates, assortment rationalization etc.
- Responsible for overall assortment inventory flow and transition
- Analyze data on sales, margin, and new product performance; initiate strategies in respond to sales trends to improve profitability
- Maintain high standard of visual presentation at stores; develop product knowledge training
- Negotiate better trade terms with brand vendors by leveraging DFS’ buying power
- Ensure stable supply of quality goods by building strong partnership with vendors
People Development
- Encourage and support the development of talents; offer honest and constructive feedback to direct reports and business partners to foster people development
Key Requirements
- University Degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in an Associate level position in department or specialty store
- Previous luxury market and international business experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a special sensitivity to work in a multi- cultural environment
- Able to clearly articulate concepts and communicate across organizations at all levels
- Can commit a 3 – 5 years’ career development period with DFS
- Internationally mobile for career advancement opportunities, likely to be relocated to San Francisco, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore and other major Asia-Pacific citie
- Proficient in Excel and other merchandise-related systems
- Fluent to both written and spoken English
