Analytics Lead

Job Description


The DFS Technology team is seeking a Analytics Lead to join their Data Platform Team – a global role, based in Singapore. In this role, the candidate will be tasked to collaborate with product owners and IT partners to drive the Analytics roadmap and support data-driven decision-making within DFS using cutting edge technology and industry best practices. The role would entail multiple facets of data solutioning ranging from business analysis, solution design, software/partner selection, technical implementation, and end-to-end service delivery. The candidate should be able to showcase a delicate balance between technical expertise, business acumen, and strong communication skills. The role demands the ideal candidate to be independent, self-starter, results-oriented and have an ever-growing hunger to learn, whilst having a passion for technology. This critical role within the Data Platform team offers immense opportunities to make a game changing impact to DFS and luxury travel retail sector at large.




  • Drive the full lifecycle of Data projects: from gathering business requirements and understanding the end-user needs, to establishing business value and implementing a fully automated solution.
  • Partner with product owners across domains, architects, technology partners and cross-functional teams to implement solutions that meet the needs of the enterprise.
  • Design robust and scalable solutions to meet the data needs whilst establishing standards, guidelines, and best practices for teams utilizing the solution.
  • Play an active role in project coordination between internal and third party/vendors for smooth project delivery with a focus on risk mitigation strategies
  • Analyze, tackle, and resolve day-to-day operational incidents and be the central advisory to business users.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to promote technology strategies, evaluate, and test products, perform proof of concepts, and pilot new technologies/methods.
  • Agile - Scrum project management experience/knowledge - Ability to prioritise, pushback and effectively manage a data product and sprint backlog.
  • Investigate operational data (SLAs, customer satisfaction, delivery quality, team efficiency etc.) to identify actionable trends for continual improvements. Demonstrate technical expertise in the assigned domain.


Key Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of professional Data Analytics, Data Warehouse or Business Intelligence experience focused on empirical/predictive analytics to devise actionable business insights.
  • Extensive experience in building reliable and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from a variety of data sources, preferably in the retail industry.
  • Expert level skills in SQL with a deep understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) (e.g, PostgreSQL, MSSql), No-SQL Databases (e.g. HBase, ElasticSearch) and hands-on experience in implementation and performance tuning of MPP databases (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Experience with MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau or any standard data visualization/BI tools.
  • Familiarity of robust distributed processing frameworks (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Flink), asynchronous messaging systems (e.g. Apache Kafka, PubSub).
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g. Git, Jira, Jenkins), Industrialization tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform), and Workflow Management tools (e.g. Airflow, Prefect).
  • Strong ability to exhibit sound business judgment, a proven ability to influence cross functional teams, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership, leading data-driven analyses, and influencing results.
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with geographically distributed teams.
  • Proven ability to lead support functions for production systems with emphasis on service delivery, problem management, and effective mitigation of technology obsolescence.
  • Knowledge of cloud services like Azure, GCP would be a huge added advantage.
  • E-commerce / logistics / fashion retail background a bonus.
