Job Description

The Visual Merchandiser creates an aesthetically pleasing environment to attract the buyer’s attention and to provide an excellent in-store experience. The goal is to convert window shoppers into prospects, drive branding and sales objectives and maximize profitability. Develop and produce effective solutions to include: creative environments for merchandise, effective sign and marketing communication, impact merchandise fixtures and all aspects of maintaining store interior standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement special promotions, windows, renovations and any merchandise presentation requirements. Work as a team member in the daily presentation maintenance of the sales floor.
• Design, resource and fabricate custom merchandise displays, signing and fixtures to accommodate the needs of specialized merchandise in a dynamic retail environment. Communicate status of assigned tasks to Supervisor or Manager.
• Participate in the physical movement of props, fixtures and staff between the VM workshop and the stores. Ensure the proper handling during transport and storage upon return is maintained. Assist in the receipt of visual shipments.
• Facilitate the purchase of props and supplies to implement visual tasks. Follow through to insure orders are produced and received for timely installation.
• Improve technical skills, seek creative inspiration and keep up with fashion and retail presentation trends.
• Work with team members to maintain a safe and orderly workshop and prop storage environment. General shop and equipment clean-up and organization.

Key Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job
• At least 1 year experience in visual merchandising.
• Course work or certification in Visual Merchandising, Retail Fashion, Graphic Design or Fine Arts preferred.
• Demonstrable visual design skills with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design tools
• Knowledge of current visual merchandising trends and best practices
• Creative and innovative thinker
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work flexible hours / shifts, including weekends, nights and holidays.
