Job Description

DFS Paris is now seeking a Buyer (Gifts and Concept) to grow our Merchandising Team. The incumbent will take ownership to monitor and optimize space productivity in store, curate categories merchandise strategy while ensuring a proper level of localization for our Paris market. The ideal incumbent will be innovative, with rich product knowledge and be resourceful to search, select and negotiate optimum deals with local/international brands and artisans. You will aim for the success of your product offer which will be measured by sales performance versus budget, space productivity growth and gross margin performance versus budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Search, select, negotiate and buy Gifts and Concept; identify popular brands for core consumers
• Work with corporate and regional merchandising teams in developing the category and location plans
• Maintain alignment with the corporate planning team on category/location forecasts based on the most current ROF forecasts
• Ensure product and pricing offer is aligned to the customer profile of the individual store
• Monitor space productivity and promote changes to grow productivity per square foot
• Ensure financial success by meeting or exceeding sales, gross margin and inventory turn goals
• Gather market intelligence regarding key competitors and work with corporate merchandising to refine strategies to compete most effectively
• Work with the corporate merchandising function to drive customer appropriate promotional activities.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in purchasing is a must
• 3-5 years’ experience in Merchandising/Buying
• Experience in buying for concept stores (Merci, Colette, Nous, the Broken Arm, other department stores) preferred
• Financial and analytical merchandising with a background in merchandising/planning preferred
• Solid experience in managing buying activities, ideally with any third-party vendor in a multi-brand retail environment
• Fluency in English and French
• Proficient in MS computer applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
